Physical merchandise sales suspended

From 13 August 2026, all physical merchandise sales from ANÚNA/SYSTIR/M’ANAM are suspended online.

This is not something we want to do.

New EU packaging regulations mean that selling physical products directly from Ireland into other EU Member States now brings additional country-by-country EPR obligations.

EPR means Extended Producer Responsibility. In very simple terms, if we send a CD or record from Ireland to someone in another EU country, we can be made legally and financially responsible in that country for the cardboard, envelope, plastic or other packaging in which we send it. This can mean registering separately in that country, reporting the packaging we send there, paying into its packaging-waste system and appointing an authorised representative there.

So if we sell into France, we have to deal with the French system. Germany has its own system. The Netherlands has its own. And so on. The obvious solution for us would simply be to stop shipping physical products to those EU countries while continuing to sell normally to Ireland and everywhere outside the EU.

Unfortunately, the online systems available to us do not currently provide a practical way of doing that. It is effectively all or nothing.

We therefore have to withdraw our CDs and other physical merchandise from online sale altogether. This means, absurdly, that supporters in the UK, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, the USA, Asia and everywhere else outside the EU are also unable to buy physical releases from us online, even though these new EU requirements are not preventing us from selling to them.

We are an independent artist. Direct sales are one of the principal ways we can get our recordings and other work directly to the people who follow and support us.

We very much regret having to do this.

We hope this is temporary and will restore physical sales as soon as either the regulations or the systems through which we sell provide a workable solution.
